This new scratch-style 2-channel DJ mixer for Serato DJ Pro is ideal if you already have some experience of battlemixing and scratching and now want to expand your skills. But even if you're new to the scene and want to go for it, this model is the right one for you. 

Find your perfect scratch feel thanks to the popular MAGVEL FADER PRO cross fader with Feeling Adjust, which allows you to adjust its 'weight' and set the resistance that suits you best. The design of the fader is also very reliable: the button axis is very solid in the vertical direction so that it can also handle the more energetic scratching. 

Use the 2 large effects levers to control up to 57 effects in Serato DJ Pro (including purchasable expansion packs). The levers are the same size as those on our flagship DJM-S11, and you can either push them down and release them to turn the effect on or off, or lock them in place so you have your hands free to browse through your tracks and scratch music while the effect remains active. There are also 2 banks of effects to store, so you can quickly access your favourites. 

Get creative and experiment with 13 pad modes, including Hot Cue and Sampler. The 4 Performance Pads on each deck (20.6 mm x 20.6 mm in size) let you activate samples and find all kinds of new ways to remix your tracks live and add texture to your music. 

Start scratching right away - even if you've never done it before. Just choose one of the 6 scratch patterns and switch on the Scratch Cutter function using the effects lever. Move the control vinyl or jogwheel (if you're using DVS control) forward and backward on the deck and the DJM-S5 does the rest. The mixer applies a scratch effect to the music at just the right moment without you having to move the crossfader. The result is in no way inferior to the popular transformer scratches technique. This is an ideal way to learn how to scratch; you can use the control vinyl to master the timing, then switch to more difficult techniques or the crossfader. 

Switch on Crossfader Hot Cue to move the crossfader quickly and create scratch-like sounds in a sample or track. Each time you move the fader away from the edge, the song or sample on your deck restarts from the most recent Hot Cue point. This way you can quickly repeat the action to play the Hot Cue in the rhythm with which you move the crossfader. This creates scratch-like sounds without having to touch the control vinyl on the deck. 

The DJM-S5 is Pioneer DJ's first mixer to be powered by the USB port on your computer. That gives you a lot of extra flexibility. And when you use portable turntables, you also enjoy the unbridled freedom to practice and perform wherever you take your decks: your garden, the park or even the beach. It also works as a standalone mixer, allowing you to play music from a wide range of media, including analogue vinyl records. And although the mixer is powered by USB, it always produces a clear, wide-range sound that reproduces literally all music genres with crystal clarity.
